What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are screw-like devices that are implanted into the jawbone to act as an anchor for replacement teeth. For stability and ease of use, there is no better solution for tooth loss than dental implants. Located near Detroit, our office is equipped with state-of-the-art tools to ensure your dental implants are of the highest quality. Dental implants replicate the entire tooth including the crown and the root; thus, bone loss is kept to a minimum, healthy teeth are preserved and patients enjoy increased stability and confidence in eating and speaking.

Dental Implants Procedure

The implant procedure is primarily done in three stages. The first stage is securing the implant to the bone. The second stage, osseointegration, is the period of healing for the jawbone. This healing period lasts approximately four months. The third stage is the attachment of the final restoration.

Are You a Good Implant Dentistry Candidate?

  • You have healthy gums.
  • You have an adequate amount of bone for the procedure.
  • You fully understand what the procedure entails.
  • You have suffered tooth loss.

Thousands of people have enjoyed the numerous benefits of dental implants. Patients experience increased self-esteem, better appearance and comfort, better ability to chew, and improved speech with their implants.

What is a dental bridge?

While there are several different types of dental bridges, the most commonly used bridge is a fixed bridge, which consists of a false tooth with crowns attached to either side. The bridge is used to fill a gap left by a missing tooth. The crowns are securely attached over the surrounding teeth and the false tooth fills the gap left by the missing tooth.

The doctor will do a thorough examination. The teeth are then prepared to receive the bridge – the teeth are filed down at this stage to allow for the thickness of the bridge. We are proud to be one of the few offices in the Metro Detroit Area equipped with the most advanced water laser available, the Waterlase® MD.

What are the Benefits of Laser Dentistry?

Most pain and discomfort associated with many dental procedures is caused by the heat and vibration of the dental drill. The Waterlase® MD utilizes a patented and unique combination of laser energy and water to safely, accurately, and painlessly prepare the teeth and soft tissue for dental procedures. As the Waterlase® MD does not vibrate and heat the teeth as a standard dental drill, most procedures can be done without the need of local anesthesia – no shots!

The Waterlase® MD also prepares the teeth with less risk of damage to the healthy tooth structure, a common problem with dental drills.

It also allows many procedures to be done in our office without the need to refer patients to specialists. This is a great convenience to our patients who all have busy lives and need to reduce their time in a dental chair.

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, deals with the treatment of dental pulp – the soft tissue inside the tooth. This procedure is often the last measure used to save a tooth prior to extraction.

The pulp of the tooth contains the nerves, arteries, veins and lymph tissue. By the time decay advances near or into the pulp, the tooth is at high risk of infection and begins to ache. Thankfully, root canal treatment at our Detroit area practice has saved many teeth from extraction.

Root Canal Procedure

The doctor first ensures patient comfort by administering a local anesthetic. The tooth is then opened to reveal the tooth pulp. The infected pulp is removed. The root canals are then cleaned and prepared for the filling. The root canal is filled and sealed. A crown is placed over the tooth for strength and aesthetics.

Are you a good candidate?
